2025 Yamaha R3
Yamaha’s latest 2025 Yamaha R3 brings R9-inspired aesthetics, Bluetooth connectivity, and a slipper clutch, all at a more accessible price point.
The 2025 Yamaha R3 arrives with a sharper design language, smarter features, and subtle upgrades that enhance its appeal without straying from the fundamentals that have made it a favorite among entry-level sportbike enthusiasts. Inspired by its bigger supersport siblings like the R7 and R9, the new R3 features aggressive bodywork with an angular front fascia, aerodynamic winglets, and sleeker LED headlights that lend it a more race-ready presence on the road.
Mechanically, the R3 remains largely unchanged, retaining its proven 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. The motor continues to deliver around 42 hp and 29.5 Nm of torque, offering a refined, linear powerband that is friendly for beginners yet rewarding enough for experienced riders looking for a lightweight sport machine. What elevates the 2025 version, however, is the addition of a slipper clutch for smoother downshifts and reduced rear wheel hop, improving both performance and rider confidence.
Yamaha has also modernized the R3’s electronics suite. The most notable upgrade is the introduction of Bluetooth connectivity through the updated LCD display. Riders can now sync their smartphones via the Yamaha Y-Connect app to receive call and message alerts, monitor vehicle health, and view ride stats. While it doesn’t include a full-color TFT screen or riding modes like some of its rivals, this step up in connectivity is a welcome addition for tech-conscious buyers.
Chassis dynamics remain a highlight. The R3 continues to utilize a diamond-type frame and comes equipped with 37 mm USD KYB front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock, offering a balanced mix of comfort and cornering stability. The bike also features dual-channel ABS as standard, paired with a 298 mm front and 220 mm rear disc setup, ensuring reliable braking performance.
In terms of ergonomics, Yamaha has maintained a relatively relaxed riding position, making the R3 suitable for both daily commutes and weekend twisty runs. The lightweight build and approachable seat height further add to its everyday usability, especially for newer riders.
Expected to launch in India around mid-2025, the Yamaha R3 is likely to be priced more competitively than before, following Yamaha’s strategy of local assembly to reduce costs. With its blend of striking design, solid performance, and practical updates, the 2025 Yamaha R3 is poised to remain a top contender in the entry-level sportbike category, going head-to-head with models like the Kawasaki Ninja 500 and Aprilia RS 457.
As of April 2025, the 2025 Yamaha R3 is priced at Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This revised pricing reflects a significant reduction of Rs 1.10 lakh from its earlier price, a move by Yamaha to commemorate the R3’s 10-year anniversary and to enhance its competitiveness in the Indian market.
The updated R3 features a refreshed design inspired by Yamaha’s R-series, incorporating a single LED projector headlight flanked by twin LED DRLs, giving it a more aggressive look. It also comes equipped with a slipper clutch and an LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s MyRide app.
With these enhancements and the new pricing strategy, the 2025 Yamaha R3 aims to offer a compelling package for riders seeking a blend of performance, technology, and value.
