Mahindra XUV 3XO A Compact SUV That Raises The Bar
The Mahindra XUV 3XO has established itself as one of the most feature-rich compact SUVs in the Indian market. Designed as a major evolution of the earlier XUV300, the SUV brings a fresh exterior, a completely redesigned cabin, powerful engine choices and an impressive list of safety features. With its combination of performance, technology and everyday practicality, the XUV 3XO has become an important model in Mahindra’s growing SUV portfolio.
Bold And Modern Exterior Design
The first thing that stands out about the XUV 3XO is its striking design. Mahindra has given the SUV a completely refreshed front end with a bold grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps. The rear also looks distinctive thanks to connected LED tail lamps and a full-width light bar.
The muscular body lines and upright stance give the SUV a strong road presence. Despite measuring under four metres in length, the XUV 3XO looks larger than many rivals and carries the rugged design language that Mahindra is known for.
Premium Cabin Experience
Inside, the XUV 3XO represents a significant step forward compared with its predecessor. The dashboard has been completely redesigned and higher variants feature dual 10.25-inch displays for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The cabin also offers soft-touch materials, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity and connected car technology. The overall layout feels modern and premium, making the SUV competitive with more expensive vehicles.
Powerful Engine Options
Mahindra offers the XUV 3XO with three engine choices, allowing customers to select a powertrain according to their needs.
The petrol lineup includes a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine and a more powerful 1.2-litre TGDi turbo petrol motor. The TGDi version produces around 130hp and 230Nm of torque, giving the SUV strong acceleration and confident highway performance.
For buyers who prefer diesel, Mahindra also offers a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing approximately 117hp and an impressive 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include manual, automatic and AutoSHIFT+ options depending on the engine selected.
Smart Driving Modes
One of the highlights of the XUV 3XO is its three Smart Steering modes—Comfort, Normal and Sport. These modes alter steering feel to suit different driving situations.
Comfort mode is designed for city traffic, while Sport mode provides a more engaging steering response on open roads. Mahindra says the suspension setup has also been tuned to offer a quiet and comfortable ride while maintaining confident handling.
Strong Safety Package
Safety is one of the XUV 3XO’s biggest strengths. The SUV has earned a **five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating**, making it one of the safest vehicles in its segment.
Mahindra provides six airbags as standard across the range, along with electronic stability control, traction control and several other active safety systems. Higher variants also receive Level 2 advanced driver assistance features, adding another layer of protection for drivers and passengers. <Cite refs={[“turn0search0″,”turn0search7”]}/>
Feature-Rich Top Variants
The higher variants of the XUV 3XO are packed with premium equipment. Features available across the range include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, automatic headlights and wipers, connected LED tail lamps and advanced infotainment technology.
Mahindra has also introduced the REVX range, which brings a sportier appearance and additional premium features. The top REVX A variant even introduced Dolby Atmos audio technology, a feature rarely seen in this price category.
Practical Everyday SUV
Beyond its technology, the XUV 3XO remains a practical family vehicle. Its spacious cabin can comfortably accommodate five adults, while the compact dimensions make it easy to drive through congested city streets.
The suspension is tuned to absorb rough roads effectively, and the SUV’s high seating position provides good visibility. These qualities make it equally suitable for daily commuting and weekend highway trips.

Tough Competition
The compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive in India, with rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet. The XUV 3XO counters these competitors with a strong combination of powerful engines, premium features and excellent safety credentials.
Rather than relying on a single standout feature, Mahindra has created a well-rounded package that appeals to a broad range of buyers.
Final Verdict
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is a compelling compact SUV that successfully combines bold styling, modern technology, strong performance and impressive safety. Its dual-screen cabin, panoramic sunroof, multiple engine options and five-star Bharat NCAP rating give it a strong advantage in its segment.
For buyers looking for a compact SUV that offers premium features without sacrificing practicality, the XUV 3XO stands out as one of Mahindra’s most complete products and remains a strong contender in India’s highly competitive SUV market.
