Ultraviolette X47 Crossover 2025
Blending performance, adventure the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover 2025 redefines what an electric motorcycle can offer in India.
When Ultraviolette Automotive unveiled the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover in late 2025, it sent a ripple through India’s evolving electric two-wheeler landscape. This motorcycle isn’t just another EV; it represents a bold attempt to merge street performance, light adventure capability, and advanced safety features—packaged in a way that is meant to appeal to both daily commuters and weekend explorers.
Concept & Positioning
The “Crossover” tag is deliberate. Ultraviolette isn’t calling the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover a full-blown adventure bike nor purely a roadster. Instead, it positions it in a hybrid zone—capable of handling pothole-marred city roads one day, and cruising highways or mild off-road stretches another. It takes its underpinnings from the firm’s previous F77 sports EV platform, but retools the chassis, subframe, and ergonomics to suit a more versatile role. The goal: offer a single bike that blends utility, responsiveness, and longer-range comfort.
With this, Ultraviolette wants to target buyers who want more than a city-focused e-bike but aren’t willing to jump into heavy, dedicated adventure machines. It’s a play for a “sweet spot” in between—less compromise than a street bike on bad roads, more agility than a heavy ADV on city traffic.
Design & Ergonomics
Visually, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover inherits the sharp, edgy styling cues of earlier Ultraviolette models—angular lines, aggressive fascia, and a somewhat fighter-jet like posture. But it adds functional adventure elements: a beak-style front fender, higher windscreen, knuckle guards, and a sculpted tank to assist in rider control when standing over rough patches.
The subframe is a cast aluminum unit, trimmed to balance weight and strength. The chassis is new (i.e. not just lifted unchanged from the F77), allowing better ground clearance and improved geometry that suits mixed-road use. The tail is raked upward, and a special variant, Desert Wing, comes with built-in luggage mounting racks and saddle-stay supports, enhancing its touring credentials.
In riding posture, it leans toward upright, comfortable for long stints while still preserving sporty control. Combined with a handlebar of moderate height and enough legroom, it’s neither too aggressive for daily riding nor too lax for spirited riding.
Powertrain, Range & Performance
The X47 offers two battery options, giving flexibility to buyers:
-
7.1 kWh battery — claimed IDC range ~ 211 km
-
10.3 kWh battery — claimed IDC range ~ 323 km.
The output is rated at about 30 kW (≈ 40.2 hp) and a peak torque of 100 Nm, which when geared to the rear wheel translates to a very high effective torque (some reports list a rear wheel figure of ~610 Nm).
Acceleration numbers are impressive: 0–60 km/h in 2.7 seconds, and 0–100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The claimed top speed is 145 km/h. These figures place it well ahead of many expected electric commuter bikes, but perhaps short of hardcore superbikes. But that’s not its aim.
The 10.3 kWh variant with its greater energy stores is heavier (expected weight around 207 kg) compared to the lower-capacity model. The trade-off is longer range versus agility. The suspension setup uses standard telescopic or inverted forks up front and a rear monoshock; both ends are tuned for a mix of road comfort and moderate uneven terrain. Braking is handled by disc brakes front and rear, complemented by a dual-channel ABS system (switchable) and traction control.
Ultraviolette claims its onboard charger is among the densest air-cooled designs, and supports Type-2 AC charging. There’s mention of “Parallel Boost Charging” to accelerate charge throughput—though exact charge time figures have not been fully confirmed publicly yet.
Radar, Camera & Safety
Where the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover 2025 stands out is in its technological ambitions. Ultraviolette introduces the UV Hypersense radar-based system—one of the world’s first uses of radar intelligence in a motorcycle at this scale. The system uses a 77 GHz radar unit capable of scanning up to 200 m and dynamically adjusting monitoring zones based on riding speed.
Key rider assistance features include:
-
Blind Spot Monitoring
-
Lane Change Assist
-
Rear Collision Warning
-
Overtake Alerts
Moreover, the 2025 Ultraviolette X47 Crossover includes a dual-camera dashcam module (front + rear) that records in 1080p at 30 fps with a 120° wide-angle lens. The data can be viewed on a secondary display integrated into the cockpit. Storage is expandable up to 256 GB. The front and rear video feeds can be shown on an optional dual-display cluster in real time—very much a first in this segment.
Supporting electronics include multiple riding modes (Glide, Combat, Ballistic), 3 levels of traction control, 9 levels of regenerative braking, dynamic stability control, and telematics via eSIM for remote tracking, ride data and security alerts.
In short: Ultraviolette is pushing the envelope of safety and situational awareness on two wheels, not just power and range.
Pricing, Booking & Deliveries
At launch, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover is offered at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 2,49,000 for the base 7.1 kWh version, for the first 1,000 bookings. Post that, the price is set to go up to ₹2,74,000. Ultraviolette has opened bookings (for a token amount, e.g. ₹999) and plans to begin nationwide deliveries from October 2025.
The company also announced a goal to scale its sales dramatically—targeting 10,000 units in FY 2025–26, an ambitious leap from prior years.
Color options include Laser Red, Airstrike White, Shadow Black, and a special Desert Wing variant with distinct styling and touring gear. Accessory support will include options like panniers, crash guards, knuckle guards, luggage racks etc., especially emphasized for the Desert Wing edition.
Strengths & Possible Challenges Ultraviolette X47 Crossover
Strengths
-
Innovative Safety Tech: Radar-based ADAS and dual-camera dash cams are things rarely seen (if at all) in this price/segment, giving Ultraviolette a strong differentiation.
-
Versatility: By straddling street and mild adventure duties, the X47 can appeal to riders who don’t want to buy two bikes.
-
Performance & Range: Its acceleration and top speed are competitive not just with EV peers but also with entry-level petrol bikes.
-
Brand Ambition: The bold pricing strategy and aggressive sales targets signal this is a key flagship for Ultraviolette’s growth push.
Challenges / Caveats
-
Real-world efficiency: The claimed IDC ranges are optimistic. On actual mixed riding, especially in hilly/urban conditions, range may shrink.
-
Payload & terrain limits: While it can handle rough roads, it’s not a full-blown off-roader; its tyres, suspension travel, and durability will be tested by real conditions.
-
Service & charging infrastructure: For buyers outside tier-1 cities, charging and servicing logistics may be limiting.
-
Cost vs petrol rivals: Even though it undercuts many performance petrol bikes, its absolute cost is still high compared to simple commuter bikes—so buyer conversion is a hurdle.
-
Tech reliability: Radar + camera systems are complex; durability under Indian road dust, water, heat, and vibrations remains to be proven.
Implications & Outlook
The launch of the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover is a signal: electric two-wheeler makers in India are ready to move beyond “commuter scooters/e-bikes” into more aspirational and utility-rich segments. If the tech performs well, buyers may begin to expect radar, collision alerts, and video recording as baseline features—even in mid-priced bikes.
For competing brands, this raises the bar. Traditional petrol ADV, touring and street bike makers can no longer treat EV players as niche; the performance and utility edge is shrinking. Moreover, the success of X47 (or lack thereof) could influence how aggressive EV makers become in launching mid-to-high range models, pushing EV adoption beyond the “city runabout” market.
From the buyer perspective, this creates an exciting option. One machine that can handle daily traffic, occasional long rides, some rough stretches—and do so with smart features. If Ultraviolette manages to deliver consistent build quality, durability, and service reach, the X47 could become a benchmark.
In sum, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover is not just another model—it’s a statement. A bet that India’s electric two-wheeler market is mature enough for performance, safety, and versatility to matter. The real test lies ahead: in how it holds up on Indian roads, how many buyers embrace its premium positioning, and whether its techno-features continue to function reliably. But as of now, it is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious EV motorcycles to emerge from India in 2025.
