
At the Auto Expo 2025, several leading automotive manufacturers unveiled their latest electric vehicles (EVs), marking significant strides in India’s mobility sector.
Maruti Suzuki introduced its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) SUV, the e VITARA. Built on the new HEARTECT-e platform, the e VITARA offers a range exceeding 500 km on a single charge with its 61 kWh battery pack. It features Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), an Integrated Digital Display, and Next-Gen Suzuki Connect. Maruti Suzuki also announced the “e for me” initiative, providing home chargers, a nationwide fast-charging network, and specialized service workshops to support EV adoption.
Hyundai unveiled its latest electric sedan, the Ioniq 6, at the expo. The Ioniq 6 boasts a sleek design and advanced aerodynamics, offering an impressive range of approximately 614 km on a single charge. Equipped with fast-charging capabilities, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. The vehicle also features a dual-motor setup, providing all-wheel drive and a combined output of 320 horsepower.
Hero MotoCorp showcased its electric scooter, the Hero eMaestro, signaling the company’s entry into the electric two-wheeler segment. The eMaestro is equipped with a 6 kW electric motor, offering a top speed of 55 km/h and a range of 100 km on a single charge. It also features a digital instrument cluster, connected technology, and fast-charging capabilities, allowing the battery to be charged up to 80% in just 2 hours.
These launches reflect the automotive industry’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, aligning with India’s goal to increase EV sales to 30% by 2030. The introduction of advanced EV models with extended ranges and fast-charging capabilities is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
