Auto Expo 2025 Highlights Electric SUVs, Future Mobility, and Innovation
The Auto Expo 2025, held on January 18, 2025, showcased several significant unveilings and launches, highlighting the automotive industry’s shift towards electric mobility and innovative technologies.
Hyundai Creta Electric Launch:
Hyundai Motor India introduced the Hyundai Creta Electric SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo. Available in four variants—Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence—the Creta Electric offers two battery options. The 42 kWh battery provides an ARAI-rated range of 390 km, while the 51.4 kWh battery extends the range to 473 km. Prices start at ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Design and Features:
The Creta Electric maintains the design language of its internal combustion engine counterpart, with subtle aerodynamic enhancements such as a blanked-off grille and redesigned bumpers. Notably, it includes first-in-segment active air flaps in the lower bumper to improve aerodynamics and assist in battery cooling. The interior features dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, a new steering wheel design, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, automatic climate control, vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, a 360-degree camera, a digital key, and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite.
Performance:
The 42 kWh battery variant is paired with a 135 PS electric motor, while the 51.4 kWh battery powers a 171 PS motor. The long-range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. DC fast charging enables a 10% to 80% charge in 58 minutes, and an 11 kW AC home charger can achieve a full charge in approximately 4 hours.
Other Highlights:
In addition to the Creta Electric, Hyundai showcased the Ioniq 5, the Nexo hydrogen SUV, and a mystery global model at their pavilion. The Nexo’s appearance marks its third showcase in India, reflecting Hyundai’s exploration of alternative fuel technologies. The company also demonstrated the Creta Electric’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, highlighting its potential to power external devices.
The Auto Expo 2025 underscored the automotive industry’s commitment to sustainable mobility, with manufacturers like Hyundai leading the charge in introducing electric and alternative fuel vehicles to the Indian market.
