Tata Safari EV 2026
With a bold design, advanced features, and a spacious 7-seater layout, the Tata Safari EV aims to deliver a premium electric driving experience in India.
The Tata Safari EV is an upcoming all-electric SUV from Tata Motors, expected to launch in India around May 2026, with an estimated price range of Rs 26–32 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Safari EV 2026 is poised to be a significant addition to Tata Motors’ growing electric vehicle portfolio, combining the rugged appeal of the Safari with the sustainability of electric mobility. As a fully electric version of Tata’s flagship SUV, the Safari EV is expected to cater to urban families and long-distance travelers who are looking for a spacious, feature-rich vehicle with zero tailpipe emissions.
Built on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, which underpins other upcoming EVs from the brand, the Safari EV is designed to offer flexibility in drivetrain layouts, potentially including both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants. This makes it suitable for a wide range of road conditions and driving preferences. While exact battery specifications are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated to offer a competitive real-world range, possibly exceeding 500 kilometers on a full charge, making it practical for intercity travel.
The design of the Safari EV is expected to retain the bold and premium look of the ICE version but with unique EV-centric styling elements such as a blanked-out grille, blue accents, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Tata may also include exclusive color options and design tweaks that set it apart from the diesel variant, while keeping the iconic Safari silhouette intact.
On the inside, the Safari EV is likely to offer a modern, tech-forward cabin with a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, connected car features, and possibly ADAS functionalities like lane assist and adaptive cruise control. The SUV is expected to continue with the 6- and 7-seater configurations, ensuring it meets the needs of larger families or those who prioritize extra cabin space.
As Tata Motors continues to strengthen its position in India’s EV space, the Safari EV will play a critical role in appealing to the premium SUV buyer. It is also expected to benefit from Tata’s rapidly expanding EV charging ecosystem and customer-centric service approach. Given the growing demand for electric vehicles in India, especially in the SUV segment, the Tata Safari EV 2026 is shaping up to be a well-rounded and highly anticipated offering.
The Safari EV is anticipated to be built on Tata’s new Acti.ev platform, which supports multiple drivetrain configurations, including front-wheel drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), and all-wheel drive (AWD). While specific battery and range details are yet to be disclosed, it’s expected to offer competitive performance in line with other electric SUVs in its class.
The electric Safari is likely to retain the robust and premium design language of its ICE counterpart, with subtle EV-specific styling cues. Expected features include a spacious 7-seater configuration, a panoramic sunroof, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Upon launch, the Tata Safari EV will compete with other electric SUVs in the Indian market, such as the BYD Atto 3, Mahindra XUV.e8, and the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5.
