Expected to Launch in 2025, the Thruxton 400 Will Blend Classic British Style with Modern Performance.
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is an upcoming café racer that has been generating interest among motorcycle enthusiasts, particularly in India. Building upon the platform of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, this model aims to deliver a blend of classic aesthetics and modern performance.
Design and Features
Spy shots reveal that the Thruxton 400 draws inspiration from its larger counterpart, the Speed Triple 1200 RR, featuring a distinctive half-fairing and a round headlamp with an X-shaped element, consistent with Triumph’s design language. The motorcycle is equipped with clip-on handlebars, contributing to a sporty and aggressive riding posture. Additionally, it sports a sleek tail section with a single-piece seat, enhancing its café racer appeal.
Engine and Performance
The Thruxton 400 is expected to be powered by the same 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine found in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. This engine delivers approximately 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While the core engine specifications remain consistent, Triumph may fine-tune the engine mapping to suit the Thruxton’s café racer character.
Chassis and Suspension
The Thruxton 400 is anticipated to share its chassis components with the Speed 400, including a tubular steel frame, 43mm upside-down front forks, and a rear monoshock with preload adjustment. However, the suspension setup might be tuned for a sportier ride to align with the café racer ethos. Braking duties are likely to be handled by a 300mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, complemented by dual-channel ABS.
Triumph Thruxton 400 Pricing and Availability:
The Triumph Thruxton 400 is expected to be positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X in terms of pricing. Estimates suggest an ex-showroom price ranging from ₹2.70 lakh to ₹2.90 lakh. The launch is anticipated in the second half of 2025, with the motorcycle being manufactured locally in India.
Competition
Upon its release, the Thruxton 400 is expected to compete with models like the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, offering riders an alternative in the mid-capacity café racer segment.
Enthusiasts eagerly await official announcements from Triumph regarding the Thruxton 400’s specifications, features, and launch dates.
