Oben O100 Electric Bike New Affordable Motorcycle Could Change the Entry-Level EV Segment

Oben Electric is preparing to expand its electric motorcycle portfolio with the Oben O100, a new platform designed specifically for India’s mass commuter segment. The company announced the O100 platform as its second indigenous electric motorcycle architecture, targeting the 100cc-equivalent category that represents a significant portion of India’s two-wheeler market. Unlike the performance-focused Rorr family, the O100 has been developed around affordability, practicality and everyday usability.

Oben originally announced that motorcycles based on the O100 platform would arrive in the latter half of 2025. However, as of September 2026, the company has not officially announced a production launch date or complete specifications for the O100. Current listings continue to describe the motorcycle as an upcoming model, with an expected starting price of around Rs 99,000.

Designed for Everyday Commuters

The O100 has been conceived to take electric motorcycles into a more price-sensitive part of India’s two-wheeler market. Oben says the platform is intended for mass daily commuters and has been engineered around reliability, affordability and utility.

This approach could make the O100 particularly relevant in cities and smaller towns, where buyers generally prioritise running costs, practical range, easy maintenance and an affordable purchase price. Instead of focusing exclusively on high performance, the new platform is expected to concentrate on delivering a familiar commuter-bike experience using electric power.

New Indigenous EV Platform

According to Oben Electric, the O100 has been developed at the company’s Bengaluru research and development centre. The platform has a modular architecture that can support different battery configurations, variants and features. This flexibility is expected to allow Oben to develop multiple motorcycles for different customer requirements without creating an entirely new platform for every model.

The company has also highlighted its vertically integrated engineering approach. Oben says it develops important components including its electric motor, vehicle control unit, chargers and battery technology in-house. The O100 platform will use the company’s proprietary LFP battery technology, which is a major part of Oben’s strategy for electric motorcycles.

Focus on Affordable Electric Mobility

The biggest attraction of the O100 could ultimately be its expected price. Oben announced the platform with a target of producing electric motorcycles priced below Rs 1 lakh, making it considerably more accessible than many performance-oriented electric motorcycles.

At this price point, the O100 could compete not only with electric motorcycles but also with conventional 100cc and 110cc petrol commuter bikes. Lower running costs and reduced dependence on petrol could become important advantages for buyers who cover significant distances every day.

However, the final price, battery capacity, claimed range, charging time, motor output and top speed have not yet been officially confirmed by Oben for the production O100. Therefore, buyers should treat currently circulating specification figures as estimates rather than final information.

Important Model for Oben

The O100 could become an important product for Oben as the company expands beyond its existing Rorr-based motorcycles. Oben currently offers models including the Rorr, Rorr EZ, Rorr EZ Sigma and the newer Rorr Evo, with the company continuing to expand its retail and service network across India.

The company’s current strategy suggests that it wants to address several sections of the electric motorcycle market rather than remain focused only on premium performance products. The O100 could therefore serve as an entry point for first-time EV buyers.

What to Expect

When launched, the Oben O100 is expected to focus on straightforward design, economical operation and commuter-friendly performance. Its modular platform could eventually support multiple versions, allowing Oben to offer different battery sizes and equipment levels.

For now, the O100 remains an upcoming electric motorcycle rather than a launched production model. If Oben manages to deliver its planned sub-Rs 1 lakh positioning while offering competitive range, reliable battery technology and convenient charging, the O100 could become one of the company’s most important products.

The model represents Oben Electric’s broader ambition to make electric motorcycles accessible beyond India’s premium EV audience. With affordability at its core, the O100 could play an important role in bringing electric mobility to everyday commuters across India’s growing two-wheeler market.
